While Cuomo was discussing growing the state's economy and other 2013 initiatives, some Empire State residents were calling on him to focus on one area in particular.

Over 1,500 New Yorkers from all over the state protested hydro-fracking outside of the Governor's State of the State Address. They say their mission is protecting New York from the environmental and health risks of fracking.

"I don't like it because I want my water to be clean and not dirty with frack," says Zhou Corhzine, Albany resident.

" See our state be really new and renewed and become a green state that leads America into a new green economy. And that is why I'm here because I believe that Governor Cuomo has that option," says Alicia Alexander, Ithaca resident.

The protestors say they're asking the Governor to reject fracking, implement a statewide ban, and be a leader in clean, renewable energy for New York and the nation.
