Unprecedented, marvelous, unparalleled. It's difficult to describe just how remarkable the boilermaker road race is. But now the race is going to new heights.

Boilermaker Race Director Jim Stasaitis says, "We we're all totally amazed."

Executive Director of the Boilermaker Tim Reed says, "This thing was a tsunami, I mean this thing just came and it was just so incredibly fast."

Last year the 35th Boilermaker set two records, it was the largest field and the quickest cap filled. Registration went from 65 days last year to 65 hours this year.

Stasaitis says, "We know we've got a great product, people in the area know we've got a great product, but this sort of validates what we do 365 days a year getting for the big race, the popularity of this thing is just huge."

Selling out a race in a matter of hours now elevates The Boilermaker into an elite class of races. And it becomes a game changer for the race as well.

Reed says, "This is pretty important. I think we're at a tipping point in regards to registration, how we're going to handle registration. If everything was repeated itself again in 2014, assuming we have a good race and whatever this year, it'll happen faster."

Registration could've been quicker but servers went down for just over an hour. And if you didn't get in, Boilermaker officials say they are planning to bring back the transfer policy again.
