The new gun control law was a topic brought up to Sen. James Seward on Thursday.

The Senator was in Herkimer to talk about some of his 2013 priorities.

Mr. Seward says he wants to focus on economic development in our region.

He says it's going to be a tough job to try and keep Remington Arms in Central New York with the new laws, but it's a job that he says needs to be done.

"We're going to work with current ownership and any new ownership of the company to continue to talk about the long history and heritage that gun manufacturing has had in Ilion. It goes back to 1816," he said.

Among other priorities on the Senator's list, he's working to pass mandate relief measures that can help out local schools.
