The SUNY Oneonta dormitory that was closed after a fire
last Wednesday will re-open tomorrow. The college announced plans
yesterday to move
most of Matteson Hall's 174 residents- many of whom have been staying at
the Oneonta Holiday Inn since the fire - back on-campus. A college spokesman says the college has worked around the clock to get the facility up and running.
"We were hoping that tomorrow you won't even notice walking in, that there had been a fire there last week. It really has been a comprehensive effort by a lot of folks to get it back to the condition it was in before last Wednesday's events," says Hal Legg, Communications Director for SUNY Oneonta.
The fire caused the most damage to the third floor of Matteson Hall, which will remain closed for repairs for the
rest of the Spring semester. For students living on the third-floor, they have been reassigned to other residence halls.
