Some community members are recognizing Presidents' Day, one of them being the Oneida chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The organization held its first luncheon this afternoon honoring the holiday. A representative says their mission is to promote education, patriotism and preserve history.

"Historic preservation not only means artifacts but also the memories of our patriots who have given so much that we could do what we are doing here today. And especially because the Mohawk Valley is such a historic place, so what better way to celebrate president's day in the Mohawk Valley," said Mary Cardinale.

The organization also had a guest speaker at today's luncheon talking about the mothers of past presidents.
