11th Annual Shop Rome First kicks off for holiday season

'Tis the season to start shopping for holiday gifts and one area organization is trying to make it fun for shoppers.
The 11th annual Shop Rome First Holiday promotion kicked off today.
People taking part get coupons and enter contests and treasure hunts.
The Rome Area Chamber of Commerce is trying to bring shoppers into retailers and restaurants in Rome.
The coordinator says spending money locally has its benefits.
"It helps save jobs and keeps the sales tax revenue local, so that keeps property taxes down. And we are really happy to say every year we have done shop Rome first, the sales revenue has increased," said coordinator, Roberta Cavano.
