Frankfort Brownfield Project

    What should Frankfort do with a $50,000 grant that covers nearly 500 acres? That's the question posed to residents tonight.

            The Village Clerk Karlee Tamburro says, "This is phase one of this process and we're looking for ways to revitalize the community and we're looking for their input to see what they'd like to see happen."

            The Town and Village are working together on the project. A part of the brownfield area is the former union tools and the property is currently privately owned. But this project should help make the area more attractive to a potential buyer.

                Tamburro added, "There were jobs that would be available, a manufacturing site that would be something that would be a tremendous asset to this area."

                The vision workshop drew a large gathering of Frankfort residents and many weighed in on what should be done at the site.

                Dan Caiola of the Village says, " You know everyone has great ideas for a positive outcome where we have a bunch of nice things, but at the same time the easiest way to get there in my is business, develop revenue business opportunities and everything else follows after that."

                Andrew Zaffarano of the Village says, "Access to an industrial drive where there are already three industries, so some more access roads would be nice to go through that area. And then maybe some assisted living opportunities right in the village."
