The Community Foundation Recognized for Excellence in Philanthropy

One are organization is receiving some national attention. The Community Foundation of Oneida and Herkimer counties was recognized for high standards in philanthropy. In 2012 the community foundation awarded grants to communities from Cooperstown to Remsen. And projects totaled nearly a million dollars for the Central New York area. The foundation says the award shows their commitment to the community.
Jaan Squarito, The Senior Program Officer, says, "It's a way that we can assure our donors that we operate with the best practices out there so that when people give us a donation, leave us a bequest, however they give us money that we're operating with the highest standards."
The Oneida Herkimer branch was one of 200 to be recognized.
