All eyes are on the State Capitol, where thousands of pro-gun activists are making sure their voices are heard.

A second gun-rights rally in just one month took place in Albany on Thursday and gun owners and hunters have the same message. They say the new gun laws in New York State are unconstitutional.

Utica resident Peg Roberts is one of the many volunteers across our state who helped organize the trip to Albany.

In response to the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act or SAFE Act, thousands of pro-gun advocates gathered at Capitol Park to protect the 2nd amendment of the constitution.

"The second amendment is the right to keep and bear arms. And to lose that is to lose all the others," said Roberts.

"I just want the whole thing repealed because they did it in the dark of night. And they didn't follow the standard rules," explained Marcy resident, Greg Johnson.

Not only are the advocates saying the law is unconstitutional, but it doesn't address the real problems.

"It's a feel good legislation that was put through to mollify people, but it doesn't get to the core of mental health and people that are crazy assaulting other folks," said Remsen resident, Bernard Davis.

Protestors were encouraged to meet with their legislators to let their voices be heard.

"We know what you want to do. We know how you want to cut the number of rounds in a magazine and the type of guns we can own. We know where you are coming from and we are just telling you where we are coming from and that is the constitution," said Roberts.

The rally was organized by the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association.
