Marshall Meeting Expectations 11/26/12

Chicago, Illinois-Bears fans have always known what a number one receiver looks like...they've just never seen one wearing a Bears uniform.  Brandon Marshall is showing us all on a weekly basis.   Sunday he hauled in 12 passes for 92 yards.  When the Bears needed a clutch play on offense, he was the guy they went to.

"We've come to expect that from him each week as we should because he's our number one receiver. He's hard to cover one-on-one," says Bears coach Lovie Smith.

"Some days it's a shot glass and some days it's a wheel barrel, and today was definitely a wheel barrel. I caught a bunch of balls," said Marshall following Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Marshall went over the one thousand yard receiving mark Sunday, something his tweeters made sure he was aware of.

"In the third quarter I leaned over to Jay, and I said 'that catch puts me at one thousand yards for six seasons in a row', and he looked at me and he said you're disgusting," laughed Marshall.

Marshall has 81 receptions this season.  He's well within striking distance of the Bears single season record for that.  Marshall is aware of that mark also.

"101 Marty  Booker in 2001. I know this because I hear it from you guys all the time and twitter is amazing, social media," says Marshall.

So what makes Marshall so good?  Most of it is God-given ability.  But he also credits part of it to his father.

"One thing my father taught me was how to use my body. Be crafty. I don't run the best routes. But I'm really confident in putting myself in a position where I can be quarterback friendly."

The best part about Marshall is he enjoys being a Chicago Bear.

"I'm really proud to be a Bear," says Marshall. "When I look back on my legacy as a football player I want it to be as a Bear."
