The defense was strong again forcing a pair of Lions fumbles and holding the Lions off the scoreboard until the final 30 seconds of the game.
The offense sputtered. Jay Cutler's early touchdown pass to Brandon Marshall accounted for the Bears only touchdown. Cutler was shaken up in the second quarter when he was sacked hard by Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh. Cutler left the game briefly, but he played the entire second half.
Robbie Gould added a pair of field goals. Matt Forte rushed for 96 yards on 22 carries. Marshall finished with six receptions for 81 yards and the touchdown.
The Bears have won 9 of 11 games on Monday Nights under Lovie Smith. More importantly they maintain sold possession of first place in the NFC North with a 5-1 record.
