Bears React to Close Call 10/28/12

Chicago, Illinois-For some reason the Panthers give the Bears trouble.  Last year the Bears edged the Panthers by five points here. Today it was even closer as the Bears squeaked by by one point.  Some people might say that the Bears played down to the Panthers level.  A level that had Bears fans booing the Bears at halftime.

"I'd boo too," said Cutler following the game. "I told those guys it was a boo-worthy performance if you will. It was pathetic offensively what we put out there."

"There's no such thing as an ugly win," says Bears Coach Lovie Smith. "To me the team that deserves the win always ends up on top at the end, all those things, but we will definitely cherish this one."

It wasn't exactly a great day for the defense either, but when this unit needs to make a play it does.  In this game it was Tim Jennings bailing the Bears out with his coverage on Steve Smith and his two interceptions including the pick-six that turned this game around.

"You feel like it's coming right to you. Those are the toughest ones to catch," says Jennings. "I was able to get my hands on the ball and capitalize on the play and just score from there, and I was able to do that."

"We practice that every day in practice," says Brian Urlacher. "That's how we explain it. Every fumble we get in practice we score. Every pick we score. Guys block and that's what we do."

"Whenever you get a win in the National Football League you enjoy it. It's hard to come by," says Brandon Marshall.

This really was a game that the Bears needed to win because in a couple weeks their schedule will become much more challenging.  The same can be said for their game next week in Tennessee against the Titans.
