Cowboys So Close To Sitting Up Top Of NFC East

By: Alyssa Orange
Updated: October 31, 2012
The Dallas Cowboys were so close Sunday afternoon to being part of the top of the NFC East standings, fingertip distance close.

Had Dez Bryant's last minute touchdown pass actually ruled a touchdown, and meaning the throw was a little bit farther from the sidelines, The Cowboys would have been only a half a game behind the leader board, and in complete control of the tiebreaker against the New York Giants.

But now the Cowboys are in 3rd place and tied with the Philadelphia Eagles at 3-4. They have yet to play the Eagles this season, but that game will come on November 11th and December 2nd.

Between now and then, the Cowboys have the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta. The Cowboys may be that team to break the Falcons' undefeated season, but not getting their hopes up, the Cowboys could go into the Eagles game with a 3-5 record.

Long story short, if the Cowboys want any chance to break into the playoffs in a Wild Card spot, they have to start winning, and start now.
