"Just taking it one play at a time and fixing our mistakes and getting better one game at a time," says Cutler on how they'll go about that. "We don't have to get exponentially better we just have to take one step at a time. Each week, each player get a little bit better at a time and by the end of the year will be where we want to be."
"It just comes down to us going out there and executing plays and protecting our guy and obviously creating some of those running lanes," says center Roberto Garza.
Despite the inconsistency so far this season, one constant has been Jay Cutler's play in the 4th quarter. Cutler leads the league in passer rating in the last 15 minutes of the game. That doesn't surprise his favorite target.
"Man, a couple weeks ago I was trying to figure out a name," says receiver Brandon Marshall. "I asked
him to text over a few nicknames, like The Closer, Ace. He has that clutch
gene. You hear guys talking about it, some guys believe in it, some don't. But
Jay has it."
Cutler suggests his production is actually being helped by his defense.
