The Jewish Community Center offers another 92nd St Ysatellite program on Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m. "Food on the Tube: How TV Shapesthe Way We Think About Food" runs in DVD format, shown on the J.C.C.'slarge auditorium screen.

 Does watching culinary programs make us better cooks?Join Padma Lakshmi, co-host of "Top Chef"; New York Times food writerAmanda Hesser; Kathleen Collins, author of "Watching What We Eat: TheEvolution of Television Cooking Shows"; and Charlie Trotter, host of"The Kitchen Sessions." They'll discuss cooking shows: what they tellus about ourselves as cooks and people, and what they teach us about society.
