Residents in Oneida can now start dropping off their empty cans and bottles to a new facility.

Alternatives Bottle and Can Redemption Center on Farrier Avenue is officially opened for business.

The center is affiliated with the Madison Cortland ARC- serving hundreds of adults with disabilities.

Representative says the new business is doing more than just providing opportunities and job training for people with disabilities.

"It also allows us to generate revenue to supplement government dollars as well as provide service to the local environment by taking out bottles and cans in the local waste stream," said Michael Hulland, the Executive Associate Director.

Residents can drop off empty bottles and cans five days out of the week.

Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m.

And on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
