An area carver will soon have his artwork on display at the Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute.

Eyewitness News got to take a sneak peek at the "Art of Subtraction" exhibit on Thursday.

Artist David Esterly, who lives in Barneveld has been carving for several decades and just recently finished up a show in New York Cite.

He says it's a time consuming process, but is looking forward to having Central New Yorkers see his work.

"This kind of carving says something that can't be said any other way. You're using a botanical medium, wood, to portray botanical forms so it sort of reinforces it's a hyper-organic art," said Esterly.

The exhibit officially opens Tuesday January 29th.
