After 4 years we're back to where we began with Ilion and Mohawk trying to merge and the residents have overwhelmingly approved the merger. The referendum was approved 2 to 1. Now that the merger is approved the community advisory committee will create teams to develop the new district. The teams consisting of district officials and residents will have specific objectives such as athletics, clubs and programs and curriculum. These teams will be formed by the end of February and will report findings by July. Many of the recommendations teams will review will be given from students. One member of the community advisory committee says she's glad to see the merger approved.

Barbara Lennox, Community Advisory Committee Member says, "It's a long process and this group has worked really hard to oversee all of the aspects of this merger and to say that there's not going to be some bumps in the road there certainly are."

The new Ilion-Mohawk school district will begin operating the following school year.
