History can often indicate a team's success. For New Hartford's girls basketball team, back to back sectional finals appearances has set a high bar for the program. After eleven games New Hartford find themselves with a nine and two record putting them second in the Tri Valley League standards. To this point the current Lady Spartans have lived up to bar set by previous teams. But according to head coach Mike Callan this team has done things differently. "We have no center, we have no really three point shooting star but individualistically there's no superstar on the team. But the chemistry is unbelievable the defensive skills have been great and the kids have really come together as a team." To say this team is unconventional would be a fair statement but the girls did find a way to come together. "I think we had like a, just a chemistry thing. We were just getting used to one another because we had a lot of younger girls coming up. But we definitely picked it right now. There wasn't, we just really meshed really well together." Success can be a fickle monster but Coach Callan gives his team a clear message. "For us it's just maintaining our focus and we need to keep winning and go into sectionals strong so were in a high note. And now we just need to maintain focus once we get there and be playing our best." History can not only indicate where you're capable of going but it can often help set the bar for the current team. "I think sectional finals for sure, regional finals, I think we can go far as long as we keep our focus and keep playing tough as I've said that we can achieve what we want."
