An Oneida County Sheriff's Transport van was involved in a car accident Thursday morning at the intersection of Genesee Street and Elizabeth Street, says Sheriff Robert Maciol.
Reports say 42-year-old Thomas Trace of Marcy was driving south on Genesee Street when he rear ended the transport van.
Trace was not injured. But, the driver of the corrections van, Deputy Robert Wright was taken to the hospital with neck injuries.
According to reports, three out of the ten inmates in the van were taken to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for minor injuries. Sheriff Maciol says all three inmates were released and now back in the correctional facility.
The van was headed to Oneida County Court for court appearances. The three inmates were not able to make their court appearances, but new dates will be set. Sheriff Maciol says the three inmates are Marshall Jackson, who is accused of murder, Jamie Lotoski and Thomas Ackerman.
The accident is still being investigated and no tickets have been issued at this time.
