Inmate Facing Charges for Attempted Escape

An inmate at the Oneida County Correctional Facility is accused of trying to escape. The Sheriff's Office says officers were making scheduled shakedowns of each cell.

But, when they got to 28-year-old Stephen Dineen's housing area they discovered the wall underneath Dineen's bunk discolored.

At a closer look, officials found the wall patched up with toothpaste. Inside the small hole in the wall was a metallic mop head, the size of a sharpie pen, says Sheriff Robert Maciol.

Maciol says although the hole was at it's infancy stage, they are charging the inmate with a felony. Dinnen is currently being held on robbery charges. He will be arraigned in Whitestown Court at a later date.
