Utica's financial troubles aren't stopping some people from maintaining pride in their city.

People who attended the Quality of Life information session brainstormed different ways on how they can beautify the neighborhoods.

Utica resident, Kevin Shanley says keeping the city clean is contagious.

"If one person sees another person cleaning up and picking something up, then the other person is probably going to pick something up. It then spreads out. That's how you get it going," said Shanley.

At Tuesday night's meeting, Kevin says he's prepared to do whatever it takes to clean up Utica.

"I'm putting on the gloves, whatever it is, getting with officials, and the neighborhood people," he said.

All of the ideas on the table are apart of National Keep America Beautiful Day.

Although that's technically not until April, it's not stopping this group from planning.

"We all have to be a part of making it happen. We all have to assume all responsibility. Not one of us can do everything," said Councilman, Jerome McKinsey.

"The more people come down, the more businesses are going to come down here and the city is going to grow," said Shanley.
