On Monday night, the community, friends, and family of Officer Corr gathered in a memorial service to remember the fallen officer.
"It's something that you can't just push to the side and say....here's another year gone by and I'm not going to cry anymore or anything like that. It doesn't happen that way. It's just tolerating your emotions a bit more, but it's not easy," said Corr's mother, Kathy.
February 27, 2006 was a day Officer Corr's family, friends, and community will never forget.
Responding to an armed robbery in New Hartford, Officer Corr was killed in the line of duty.
"I lost a co-worker, a friend, an officer that had so much promise to rise through the ranks. It hit myself and the department really hard," said New Hartford Police Chief, Michael Inserra.
Although he is no longer here, Corr's big sister, Kelly says celebrating Joseph's life every year has brought strength for her family and the community.
"We all care about something, and we can all come together on something. It's a symbol of something much bigger than ourselves," said Kelly Corr.
For Joseph's mother, she says not a day goes by where she doesn't think about her son.
