The mood in court today was simply cold. According to Riesel she would've received $180,000 from Francis Nelson. Instead she'll be serving 16 years behind bars. "I too looked into the eyes of a cold blooded killer, she knew what she was doing, she did it intentionally, she deserves this sentence and I ask you to pronounce sentence on today's date."
Today, the killer of 74 year old Francis Nelson was given her sentence but not before she revealed new information. Riesel says she was not the only person involved in the killing of Mr. Nelson. But Assistant District Attorney Jeff Carpenter says his team already knew. "Well we always take information and examine it, compare it to what we know to be true and the information that was provided today is not necessarily new information to this investigation."
At this time it is not known if this case will be reopened but carpenter says at this point Nelson`s family is satisfied with the sentencing today... But it doesn't minimize nature of the killing. "For an individual to get into a car, back over somebody and then proceed to drive over them again, I think that that is a unique person. And she certainly when I looked into her eyes early on in this case I could see that she is capable of doing that act."
