To rebuild New York, 'we must invest in the next generation.' That's what Governor Cuomo said about his new program called New York Youth Works. The program is designed to help thousands of at-risk young people gain employment. Currently Utica's youth unemployment rate is a staggering 20%. Through the program young people will gain occupational training. One area business owner says a program like this is a valuable asset to our community. Vincent Chiffy, owner of Parkway Drugs says, "We see some turnover sometimes because these young adults are trained the way they should be before they walk in. They don't realize what they're getting into. Umm so there's that, so hopefully we like to see us hold some of our employees longer."
