More than two hundred runners and walkers came out to raise over ten thousand dollars. Community members participated in the 12 annual Oneonta Heart Run and Walk at Neahwa Park this weekend. Area college and high school students took part in helping fight heart disease and stroke. Many also came from far and near to raise awareness.
Kathleen Dennin says her mother suffered from heart disease and passed away. She says, "We all know people who have suffered from heart disease."
Jodi Murray had heart surgery in 2010. She said, "I'm doing great and having been walking these walks for about nine years. It all started off with a murmur and then one summer I was having problems breathing. I couldn't catch my breath. "
Money raised from the event will fund research, advocacy, and educational programs in the community.
