The Annsville man who barricaded himself in his home for eight hours back in February appeared in Oneida County Court today.
Daniel Bragg will now be spending five years in prison.
41-year-old Bragg pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon.
Officials say Bragg could have faced potential federal charges.
According to reports, the standoff came one day after a domestic dispute he had with his ex-girlfriend.
"There was a verbal dispute and confrontation. Daniel maintains that he never threatened her with the weapon but he knows he had the weapon. This is an assault weapon and it does constitute a felony under the law," says Leland McCormac, the Chief Trial Counsel.
Bragg admits that he was under the influence of medications at the time of the incident.
He says the rifle was a present for his son who is a U.S. Marine.
Bragg will be sentenced on May 16th.
