The case of Trayvon Martin has caught national attention.

Activists and the parents of the 17-year old have been looking for justice.

Now that Mr. Zimmerman has been taken into custody and being held without bail, Eyewitness news asked how some Central New Yorkers feel.

"I think he deserves to be in jail, because the kid didn't really do anything. I see that he was walking down the street and he had a hood on and looked at him, but he didn't deserve to die," said Utica resident Shavontez Freeman.

But, some say that the topic of race is still an underlying issue, and hope that this case brings light to those around the country and here at home.

"I think that with the rally's and the support for it....it can definitely bring support for this strong racial undertone that we still have," said Michael Yanney.
