There were nearly 300 car crashes in the City of Utica during the month of March. According to police, one of the most prone areas is state street from Court Street to Genesee Street. That's including Oneida Square, which has had seventeen car crashes. Mohawk Street between Eagle Street, South Street and Rutger Street had sixteen crashes. Genesee Street from Lee Street to Bleecker and then from Genesee to Broadway had fifteen crashes. Utica Police Chief Mark Williams says, "The best advice that I can give to motorist is that you've got to drive defensively, you've got to anticipate what's ahead of you, what's around you because it's not a sure thing that when you come to a traffic light and the light is green for you that someone is not going to come the opposite direction and potentially T-bone you."
