Vernon downs is gearing up for it's 59th season, and live harness racing is set to begin this Friday night.
Employees say racing season is a popular event throughout the community and is a great way to also fuel the economy right here in Central New York.
"We have people coming in and out of here all the time, so that means they are buying gas at the local gas stations, staying in hotels, hopefully our hotel, so i think it's a big deal for the economy," said American Racing Chairman, Jeff Gural.
Along with racing season returning, the Gural also announced that Bruce Springsteen would be coming to Vernon Downs this August.
He says Vernon will be giving $2.00 from every admissions to a local food bank and veteran's organization.
