"What I'm doing today is walking with signs in an attempt to get my paycheck." Mark Olender says he's been working on the construction of the new Hampton Inn since January of this year. He says his contract calls for payments to be made on the tenth of every month and currently he is waiting for his most recent paycheck. Today Mark, with his step-son David picketed the site for a simple reason. Mark says, "To get paid.... to get paid and prevent a few other people from having to suffer not having money to take care of their kids, take care of their homes, take care of their lives."
Today mark says he is waiting for payment from CW Rich and Keating Development. Although Eyewitness News cannot independently verify it as fact mark says that c-w rich has made payment to him as of news time. We tried to reach Keating Development throughout the day, but were unable to do anything but leave messages that were not returned. Mark's step-son says he also provided services for which he hasn't been paid - so he's picketing as well. David Pizon says, "I hope to get some money, I mean I'm directly affected by this too. I mean I live with Mr. Olender and if he doesn't get his money then we're out on the street, it means my two year old daughter is out on the street as well along with his two teenage sons, ya know we've got a big family in this house and if we don't get our money we're out on the streets just ya know you gotta pay bills, the bills don't stop coming."
Mr. Olender says he hopes for a positive outcome. Olender added, "Just that I wish they'd pay their bills, about all I can ask for is pay your bills so my granddaughter that's sitting in the car over there can live comfortably and eat comfortably my kids and all of that"
Mark says he will continue to picket until he is paid.
