Teen Suicide Rates on the Rise

The centers for disease control and prevention has released some startling statistics.
The number of attempted teenage suicides has increased from just over 6% in 2009 to almost 8% in 2011.
The report also shows teens are thinking about suicide more than they used to. One child life specialist believes the increase is due to easier availability.
"Suicide rates seem to be higher in adolescents right now because access to means are easier, access to medications, access to firearms. There's more about it, there's more online about suicide, and there's more talk about it," says child life specialist Susan Cooper.
Suicide accounts for 13% of all deaths among people aged 10 to 24.
Cooper says to look out for changes in sleeping patterns, eating patterns, loss of interest and withdrawing socially
