35 brand- name prescription drugs are becoming available in their generic form for the 2012 and 2013 year.
This news may help cushion your wallet, but the Prevention Director of an addiction treatment center says it may not be as positive as it sounds.
"Unfortunately anytime any type of medications becomes more available to the public, we run a higher risk of there being use and abuse issues with it. So I anticipate seeing few of these types of medications becoming more of a problem on the streets and in households," says Paul Vitagliano, Prevention Director at Insight House.
The list of new generics feature Cymbalta for depression and pain treatment, Singulair for asthma, Lipitor for cholesterol, and several more.
