Daniel Herrman pleaded guilty to criminal possession of stolen property.
He pleaded guilty Friday, to a forgery charge and official misconduct in Herkimer County Court.
Herrman's attorney says he had been trying to buy a weapon and says the Frankfort Police Chief gave him one.
However, Herrman's attorney says the Chief said he did not give Herrman a department weapon.
"Mr. Herrman has always maintained that when he received that weapon from Chief Conley, that in fact, it was a gift from the Chief to him. He was unaware of the fact that it belonged to the village. He became aware of it subsequently, but only after this particular investigation had begun," said Michael Daley.
Herrman is set to appear back in Oneida County Court on July 11th.
