Residents were in attendance to discuss what's been a controversial topic for some time now - The property owner wants to build a five unit multi-use building on the southwest corner of French Road and Genesee Street. Some residents say the scenic and historic area is no place for such a complex.
"We're more concerned about the location. Location is very important here because of the traffic and the accidents. Coming from Genesee Street and going west, this is the main corridor between New Hartford and all the way down to McDonald's on Parkway. Everybody on both sides of Genesee Street is very upset with this, I haven't heard one pro about this," says Paul Hage, South Utica resident.
Utica's Zoning Board denied Micah Croyle's application for a variance for the second time on Tuesday. Councilmen Jim Zecca says the applicant implied he may sue the city.
