The F.X. Matt brewery is trying to reduce its carbon footprint. And they say what they're doing is the equivalent of planting more twenty eight thousand trees. The brewery says it invested a million dollars on eight green projects since 2010. National grid says the energy efficient projects could save the brewery nearly 170-thousand dollars. Now national grid is giving over four hundred thousand dollars back to the brewery in customer incentives.

President and CEO Nick Matt says, "We're always trying to make improves on a number of fronts and I suppose what the key thing here is less energy usage and that helps our bottom line. But we run as a private company and we're trying to grow the company so we don't frankly end up keeping it at the bottom line we reinvest it back into the company." The projects included installing steam pipe insulation and new lighting.
