The Rust to Green team is one step closer in starting their project for Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary school in Utica.

The group met at the Utica Public Library on Wednesday to present and discuss various blueprint designs.

Rust to Green and MLK Elementary hope this project will not only serve the students but the community as well.

The project started out as a small garden project, but now the organization hopes to expand the schoolyard to more than that.

"Students learn in very different ways and being able to take lessons outdoors and explore curriculum in a lot of different ways is very important to connect those lessons to a wide variety of students," said Liz Kushner, a Rust to Green designer.

The garden is expected to be complete a year and half from now.
