Baseball Ball Hall of Fame 2012 Induction

It's the place every young baseball player one day hopes to end up, Cooperstown New York and here among the legends of baseball in the hall of fame. And today two more are added to an elite fraternity.

Class of 2012 Inductee and Former Cincinnati Reds Shortstop Barry Larkin says, "Every player wants to feel appreciated and looks for validation, well my inclusion in the hall of fame is the ultimate validation and I want to thank you all for helping me along the way."

Ron Santo was also a member of the 2012 class. His widow Vicki Santo spoke at his induction, she says, "In his legacy let it be known that here is a man that obtained the highest honor his sport could give while playing with an insidious disease and he will continue to be an inspiration."

For cubs fans the induction of Ron Santo was long overdue. "S-a-n-t-o Santo Santo go-go-go." And although he couldn't see his plaque displayed in Cooperstown, many turned out to see him enshrined including family and friends, some of which include his former high school teammates. Pete Acker says, "We knew he wanted to a baseball player when he was a kid....He was terrific, great leader, great inspiration."

The Class of 2012 exemplifies not only great baseball players but men of great character. Larkin was humble in his induction and his message was similar, appreciate each moment.

Larkin added, "He says always remember where you come from. Take the time to smell the grass. He said how big do you feel. I said i feel like an ant. I feel so small. He said that's right, that's how small we all are relative to the grand scheme of baseball."
