The Mohawk Valley Latino Association held an Affordable Care Act Community Forum earlier this evening.

The New York Regional Director of Health and Human Services met with community members to discuss the benefits of the Health Care Reform Law. He says people of Utica and people across New York state are benefitting in several ways.

"It is the law of the land right that no child can be denied coverage because of per-existing condition, it is the law now that many new plans and plans that are renewed have to provide preventive services without co-payments and deductible. And one of the big ways is that we're fighting fraud like never before," says Jaime Torres, New York Regional Director, Department of Health and Human Services

And the doctor says every state must have a plan to set up a health insurance exchange by 2014 to help people access affordable care.
