It looks like many computer users are ditching their desktop PC's for more portable units like laptops and tablets, according to a recent study.

One area computer repair shop owner says desktop PC's are almost obsolete.

Bill Pelton, of Bill's Computer Shop in Whitesboro, says more than 90 percent of his business are fixing and selling laptops.

He says many consumers are leaning more towards portability and convenience, like the tablet.

"Tablets are not the replacement for the computer. It's convenient. It's good for browsing but any of the powerful apps and business apps you can't do on the tablets. They can't scan or do anything like that that you would on a desktop or laptop," said Pelton.

Bill says he still builds pc desktops for larger businesses and schools.
