Today marks the kickoff for the the 41st Annual Madison- Bouckville Antique Week - the largest antiques and collectibles show in New York state. With more than a thousand dealers and vendors, coordinators say they're expecting more than 45,000 people to come out for some shopping this week. Eyewitness News reporter Rachel Polansky takes us to the fair.

"It's fun, it's exciting, you can never replace the past history. No matter what you try to make new, its never the same as buying old," says Karen Bremer, shopper.

"Just walking around, meeting the people, seeing all the different antiques because you see things that you don't see everyday so it's kind of exciting to see the older things," says Sandra Euler, shopper.
And this week-long mega-event gives shoppers just that. For one antique dealer, the week holds a very special place in her heart.

"My birthday falls on Madison- Bouckville week and its like a birthday present for me, and everyone comes by to wish me happy birthday and it's the best birthday, all different people come to my birthday party," says Rosemary Wentz, antique vendor.

With more than seven large fields filled with vintage antiques and collectibles from past centuries - some people drive far and wide to attend

"I'm from Louisville, Kentucky and this is a great show, never seen anything like it," says Gerald Soltey, shopper from Kentucky.

"We're up here from Boston, thought it would be a great place to bring the kids, take a look at stuff and see if they're was anything itneresting to buy and get a deal," says Meredith Keough, shopper from Boston.

For others, it's a hobby that's turned into a tradition.

"I've been doing this for 50 years, this festival for 40 - beautiful glass, and most of the people are beautiful people," says Harry Jebbett, antique dealer.

The festival is a week long event starting today and running through Sunday. With over 1,000 dealers set up and down route 20, dealers suggest you take a few days to see all that antiquing has to offer.
