A weekend stabbing in Herkimer has left two people in the hospital.

Herkimer Police say they're not releasing much information until later Monday tonight or Tuesday morning.

However, Eyewitness News spoke with the mother of one of the stabbing victims.

One of the victim's mothers says the violence unfolded right down the street from her house, in front of the vacant South Side Pub on South Washington Street. She also says police have arrested the suspect.

Michele Breen, one of the victim's mothers says she wants to clear the rumors of Saturday morning's stabbing incident involving her son.

"Everyone knows what happens but none of it's fact. It's a drug deal gone bad. The kid that did the stabbing got jumped and it was self-defense. There are just all kinds of rumors going around," says Breen.

Around four in the morning on Saturday, police were called to the scene on S. Washington Street for a stabbing incident.

As police got the call, so did Michele as she was listening to her own police scanner.

"I ran down the street and my son and Mikey were being held down the street. They were bleeding all over the place," says Breen. Her son Martin and his best friend Mikey both were both bleeding from stab wounds.

"The kids have been out back of the South Side Pub at a party. My son and his friend were outside for a cigarette and the boy come on a bike and came back with a knife and stabbed my son in the back. My son thought he'd been punched," says Breen.

Michele says there was a confrontation earlier that evening with the suspect and someone else. She says the suspect must have mistaken her son and his friend.

"I mean these two boys don't have a police record. They don't do anything wrong," says Breen.

Michele says her son is out of the hospital, but is still in a lot of pain. She says the knife tip broke off and is lodged in his pelvic bone. As for her son's friend- she says he is in critical condition.
