"I need a iPhone, iPad, a phone, and all that bling bling," says Paige Acuri, Rome resident.
Some say we're in the the first era where children have grown up completely surrounded by technology. And an area Target team leader says electronics are expected to see the biggest increase this back to school season.
"We've very busy, especially on the weekends. We're seeing a lot of the families come in for the students and with the younger kids, we're seeing a lot of them come in for the electronics," says Jason Ziarko, New Hartford Target team leader.
One dad says it's all about keeping up and he does think its necessary to buy his children the newest technology.
"Where the future lies, its better that our yougnsters are growing up with all these things, keep up with other countries," says Rich Arcuri, Rome resident.
"I think that they're trying to keep them ahead of the curve so as more technology comes out, they'll always be ahead," says Ziarko.
But not all parents agree.
"They need to connect more with people. There walking around and not looking and texting and they bump into things," says Walker.
Mary walker has 2 pre- teens but she says they won't be getting new technology this back to school season
"Several of the kids have cell phones but our kids don't. Cause you cant find a true friend if its only written," says Walker.
But still, 36% of shoppers plan to spend more money on electronics during their back-to-school shopping this year.
