The Utica Zoo says they're pleased to announce two new members to their
family. Two African lion cubs, yet to be named, stepped out into their
exhibit for the first time this morning. The mother lion watched with a
protecting eye and the executive director says they were happy to see
the cubs playfully running around the grass.
"Surprisingly they were much more energetic and excited to be outside then we anticipated. Their very first steps out into their exhibit were playful. They were tumbling, running around, so we are so excited to bring this news to the public so that they can come and see the cubs," says Andria Heath, Utica Zoo executive director.
The Utica Zoo keepers say visitors can come and see the cubs any morning from 10 am to noon. They say it's their goal to introduce the cubs to their entire lion family after Labor Day weekend.
