Updated Code of Conduct for Utica City School District

The Utica City School District held a public hearing to discuss their updated Code of Conduct
for this upcoming school year. Some residents say the board made the
right decision to update the code of conduct, which directly revises the
district's policy on bullying. The school presented the Dignity For All Students Act, which they hope will provide students with a safe and supportive environment in the classroom.
"This legislation basically outlines law that simply states that students or staff will not be intimidated bullied or harassed while in school," says Bruce Karam, Utica City School District Superintendent.
In 2011, the school board established policies against bullying and cyber bullying, but the superintendent says this legislation took affect July 1st of this year.
