The Utica Music and Arts Fest is right around the corner, and preparation from one local band has already started.

Eyewitness News got to sit in on the rehearsal of "The Rick Short Band" Wednesday evening.

Out of around 150 bands performing, The Rick Short Band is one of several local bands who will play at the music and arts fest.

And band member Rick Short says, it's more than just playing in a festival.

"Just hosting bands from around the country as a local is fantastic. But to be able to play with these other bands and be seen by the other bands, and to represent our community as a musician to these people from Pittsburgh, Toledo, and Boston, it's really an honor," said Short.

The band practices once a week to prepare for the big weekend.

The Utica Music and Arts Fest begins September 13.
