One organization is asking for your help in collecting food for veterans. It's part of the September 11th Day of Service.

The Mohawk Valley Regional Volunteer Center will set up a food drop off location Saturday at Chanatry's Super Market on French Road. The goal is to fill the Utica Fire Department's fire bus with non-perishable food items.

"We'd like to fill the fire bus and drive the food home to our veterans. September 11th is coming up and whatever we can do for our vets and military. We're hoping to fill their shelves and reach out to other cities," said Trina Gigliotii, the Volunteer Event Coordinator.

Food collection starts at 9 in the morning until four in the afternoon. The food will be distributed to area veteran food pantries on September 11th.
