This is a statement from Senator James Stewart:

ONEONTA, 09/13/12 - Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) posted an overwhelming primary day victory wrapping up the Republican nomination for state senate district 51.

Senator Seward addressed an excited crowd at campaign HQ in Oneonta saying, "I am thrilled with the victory, the tremendous level of support - especially in new portions of the district - and look forward to a second win on November 6th."

Seward went on to thank his family and supporters and said he is excited about recent successes in Albany and is ready to continue to lead New York forward.

"New York state is moving in the right direction. I have played a leading role in cutting state spending, reducing taxes and creating a job growth environment and am ready to continue the work. The enthusiastic and overwhelming primary day support is proof positive that the voters of the 51st district appreciate the job I am doing and are firmly in my corner moving forward, " Seward concluded.

Seward is seeking his 14th term as state senator. Along with the Republican nomination, Seward earlier secured the Conservative and Independence party lines.

The 51st senate district is made up off all or parts of Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Herkimer, Otsego, Schoharie, Tompkins and Ulster counties.
