With 10,000 Americans turning 65 every day, AAA announced the launch of Roadwise RX. That's a unique web site designed to help people understand how medications can affect their ability to drive safely. AAA says more than 80% of drivers 65 years and older take medications regularly but only half of them have talked with medical professionals about issues related to driving. AAA officials say the web site generates personalized feedback on how medications can impact your safety behind the wheel.
"It actually just lists all of your prescriptions 1 at a time. it's confidential, no body else will see it but you. and you press a button and it will then go through and basically tell you if there's any interactions with these drugs, does it have any interactions with foods and what effects does it have on your driving," says Ed Welsh, Utica AAA.
AAA publicly launched the Roadwise RX web site last week and they say it's recommended for people of any age. Welsh says that any person on medication can benefit from this web site.
