The Unspoken Human Rights Festival is just around the corner, but one
area cafe is kicking off the event early. The Tram in Utica is holding
its Visual Arts Show Gallery opening tomorrow night. Coordinators say
the theme of the show is "human dignity," and they say the gallery
celebrates the beauty of diversity through art and photos from around
the world.
"We're having the opening tomorrow and that's a celebration of the entire month of unspoken. We wanted things that had an emotional impact and when you look into the eyes of the people in the photographs or the eyes if the paintings, that you see people that have suffered a lot of pain and that have bounced back," says Kathryn Stam, arts gallery coordinator.
The gallery opening is from 5p to 7p and is free to the public. The event will feature live music. And the Unspoken Film Festival will take place October 18th thru the 21st at Utica's Uptown Theatre.
